SUBANG JAYA: FCM recently spoke to FCM KOO7 Rookie Singles
and Doubles champ, Chin Jhin Seong, one of the upcoming star and most
consistent rookie, who spent some time off his busy schedule for this interview.
Jhin Seong, who became the first to win both rookie
categories for FCM's first tournament this year, is a first year law student in
Help University College.
The 18 year old lad is passionately known as the "Snake King" among
his friends back in college.
Favourite Shot:
A standard rocking snake shot. If I'm trying
to show off I'll walk it around and make everyone think I'm searching for holes.
Favourite
Pass:
Still stick pass. It
takes the least brainpower to use.
FCM: You're quite new in the local foosball scene, where are
you from?
CJS: Born in Sabah, raised in K.L.
FCM: How long have you been foosing?
CJS: I started playing more seriously with my girlfriend, Christine,
in college. Roughly five months ago.
FCM: Where have you been playing and how much have you learnt?
CJS: I play in college in my spare time and the occasional visit
to AsiaClub or Breakers club on the weekends. My first tournaments were DYPs
and I've probably learnt the most from those.
FCM: What or who motivates you to pick up foosball and why?
CJS: I got bored and decided to put two coins into a strange
table with rods. I turned out to be a natural at it and the rest is history.
FCM: What gives you the winning edge? There's a lot of good
rookie foosers out there, in your opinion, what's that one thing that makes you
a champion?
CJS: Generally, having my girlfriend by my side when I play =) Technically,
I practised 2-5 row passing because I felt that shooting/clearing the ball from
the back wasn't as reliable. In my opinion that's what made the difference. Nobody
else does it =P *anyone else who does it now is a copycat!*Also, I NEVER SCOLD
MY PARTNER *during the game* It's completely counter-productive cause she will
just get angry and play worse. I LOVE my girlfriend =)
FCM: What's your most memorable moment in your foosball career?
Why?
CJS: All the times I've won LAH. With my girlfriend. That's a
reason in itself.
FCM: What are you looking forward to from now?
CJS: Looking forward to more tournaments which would mean more
wins for me with my girlfriend by my side. I love her =)
FCM: You also won the KOO7 Rookie Doubles with Christine Hia. In
your opinion, what is the most important thing about this partnership?
CJS: We understand each other better than other pairs, we don't
put pressure on one another, and most importantly we get to hug each other
without feeling gay! *no offense to our gay community
FCM: In future events, will you partner up with any other
foosers? What do you look for in a doubles partner?
CJS: Unfortunately for the single girls (and guys), I'm taken. The
perfect doubles partner is someone who you'd have the most fun playing with, whether
you win or lose. Even better if you love the person =)
FCM: What do you think about the KOO7 event and will you be
looking forward for another event as such?
CJS: We had a lot of fun participating in the KOO7 event. It was
very well organized and we'd definitely look forward to a similar event in the
future. It was also nice that the tournament area was (almost) smoke-free for
the non-smokers.
